The place - Korea, the time - war.
He went to serve U.S. and God.
A chaplain in the front lines gore,
Captured by enemy death squad.
To caught comrades, he gave them all
The hope and faith that he could give.
He answered to a higher call,
To help his fellow comrades live.
His spirit strong, but body weak,
Ills engulfed and crushed out his breath.
To his last comrades, he did speak,
'Tell them I died a happy death.'
He lived and died within war's hell.
Emil J. Kapaun served good well.
