Empty Space Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Empty Space

I am broken, worn down;
windows shattered
creaking floors
flaking ceilings and all.

When you sleep
the sun will stream in
waking you from sleep,
strong and remorseless.

I am a hollow room
nobody wishes to occupy;
they speak of ghosts
but it’s just my sighs.

You will see shadows
but don’t be afraid
I will keep you from harm
you are safe, this is your home.

I am an empty space
come live in me
for you I’ll give my all
rent is on me.
