Erase You Poem by Kimberly Diane Allen

Erase You

I want to erase twenty years,
with just a few exceptions.
Whittle them down to five or six
years when smiles were common,
but not too deep.

I would erase the good times
when you and me were up against
a world of trouble knowing we
would win any struggle because
we loved too much for any evil
knocking at our door.

I would erase my faith in you;
I would never depend on the strength
I found in your arms. I would never
seek the comfort I only found with you.
I would never know, really know,
what true love is.

My future would never know your name at all.

Very moving words. I wonder about the women who wrote them.
