eruption

  heart of darkness
heart of the earth
molten rocks and fossils
once live creatures
now liquid gold erupting
cascading down onto the crust
red orange glow
then cooling off, slowing down
running cold, darkening again
till solidified, solid again
cold, firm and rigid
pressed into blue gray hardness
tight, tough and clear
a diamond
a blue diamond
unique and seemingly indestructible
