Even In My Silent Memories Poem by Micheal Olaniyi

Even In My Silent Memories

afar in deep woods
or at a distant sea shore,
mountain tops or midst of ocean
or somewhere away from home
to hear the silence
of far-reaching plains
we trot side by side,
drinking the aroma of exotic flowers
swaying in balmy breeze,
espoused to the brilliant colours
of the royal poinciana,
the flames of the forest trees
add glamour to the scene
nothing disturbs us
nothing frightens us
we sucks fear's dust
and everything passes.
we hold ideas,
ideas of our words;
words of our thoughts;
thoughts from our minds
falling in twos
rising in threes
and dropping all worries
in the ocean of time.
we walks silently
caging our memories, thought, feelings
to enjoy nature's peace.

sunrise sunset,
these I am used to
as they sank in my consciousness
lovely pictures when at rest
but if two head journeyed
and one returned,
OSEKERE, the hollow bird
will cry and mourn.
little did I know
your presence won't last long
though I moved on
because life goes on
as I grew up,
but in my silent memories,
even if my thoughts
turned white as sheet
and my mind a still water
that no ripple can scatter
something somewhere
swims in still like a fish
and it happens to be you
...you
...you
