Ever Poem by Karla Bell

Ever

Rating: 5.0

You can take my soul, you can take with you my heart,
You can spit out and leave the distasteful bits like garbage on the floor,
I can weep and grieve,
And I can weep some more,
But you can’t take away the scars that I adore.

I will learn to love again, and I will be a delightful sight,
I will open my arms up and keep another warm at night,
I might cry into my sheets,
And sob and silently weep,
But you can’t take away the scars that I adore.

I have scars that show the anguish, some that show the pain,
I have scars that no one will have seen and will never take away,
But I have some scars that shine on my body, like stars up in the sky,
And these you’ll never darken, and you and I both know why.

You can do your worst, over and over,
You can believe your right and me to be wrong,
You can love another more than you ever did me,
But one thing you can never do to me,
Is take away the scars that I adore
