Evolution Poem by Sasikumar Thazhumpal

Evolution

Rating: 5.0

My childhood
Spent among sherpas
Used to dream of conquering those mountains
Capped with the mighty breeze and unfathomable tranquility of skies

As grew older
I met a pygmy who sharpened my adolescent curiosity
With a single dart that went deep into my heart.

My thirties…
Unusually soothed by the layers of water lilies
and glasses of full moons
Longs for never ending beach parties that often frilled
With the smooth fingers of tidal waves

My old age
I wish-
to be among a row of trees embracing the autumn
So that….
I can also exit with the yellow rains of leaves
Unnoticed
Unheard.
