The Scopes Monkey Trial did take place.
John Scopes, teacher, accused to be
A violator in a case
Of teaching evolution in
A public school against the law,
And against the Bible in sin,
Causing a legal battle raw.
Famed Clarence Darrow for the defense,
And William Jennings Bryan for
The prosecution gave a sense
Of national headlines galore.

Scopes was found guilty and was fined.
No where did monkeys seem to mind.
