Existential Blue Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Existential Blue

Laden with mirrors of self indulgence
Desire a vacuous cover
Façade fortress
Lamp Posts from another era
Sanguine faces smug with gold
Steeple bells ring
War looms like ominous ravens
Lions tear their prey
Imperialism settles like Rome
Born into a cold room
All idols stripped
Nauseous caverns
Alone and frightened
We meet amidst the chaos

I see the stars
You tell me of the moon
Wild flowers cradle the heart
Capricorn eyes rest furtive
Blue robin eggs in spring
The wind sings again
You are a gentle meadow
I hate what man calls truth
I have no place or allegiances
The universe is bigger than parties
Ideologies are barren islands
Sorrow is purged by slow faith
Life brings your smile
Existential blue
