who do I see in this picture?
an ecstatic face, as if the face just lighted up
with limitless joy,
how long she didn't feel like this?
how long didn't she smile like this?

in a boat, a mighty Falls right in front of her!
it's pouring, the rain flooding the boat!
holding my hand, tight as tight her grip can be, clinging as close as she can;
her whole life is flooding away,
as if there will not be another day
like this.

the boat rocks, the way the swing
used to rock. the laughter, the flowers,
the songs... everything comes back in
a moment in those two eyes... longing for freedom to fly,
fly away in the clouds ~ where nobody can touch her,
