Facing Reality Poem by Nicola (IG Nicola_JustMe) Pillai

Facing Reality

Facing reality

I facilitate to alleviate
The pressure whenever you call
What you just don't understand
Is how hard I sometimes fall

Fall when you lean on me, then ignore me
Pick and choose when to communicate
My desire to continue to please you
Begins to slowly dissipate

Dissipate the little white lies
The ones you tell when you want to "protect"
In all honestly, Is that true?
Or do you just say it for effect?

Effecting my misplaced intuition
Doubting it every-time
I need to trust and believe in myself
Slowly take back what is mine

Mine and not yours to damage
Trample and thread on carelessly
This wholesome and empathetic heart
That gave you a quarter of a century

A quarter of a century
Boy how things have changed
Trying to hang onto what once was
Are we now just living in vain
