Faded Dreams Poem by Aimee Rozen

Faded Dreams

Morning hasn't yet broken the spell
of the mystery night brings.
The stars hold far steadier
than this flame I write by.
Every other moment threatening
to go out between the calm.
Sand slides through my fingers
ever more quickly as I try to hold on.
These pictures, these words,
will be lost.
Who are you that has invaded my dreams,
only to disappear before I could know?
Who is it that has pushed me to believe?
Who is it that wants me to believe in me,
myself, and my abilities?
Who are you that believes in my worth?
You keep sending me a message,
but I don't understand the language.
You have laid out my path,
only to allow the signs to get jumbled.
I try to hold on,
but I can't.
So I will wait for you to come back.
Some night you'll be around again.
Maybe next time you'll tell me who you are.
Maybe you'll reveal me to myself.
Maybe you'll linger and maybe
I'll remember more.
Till then you're fading fast,
hardly even a memory from a dream.
