Failure Poem by JL Byoll

Failure

It's invisible but it radiates
a very pronounced presence.
Even in the brightest light,
still it casts the darkest shadow.
Something that haunts me,
instills fear in me.
Always within it's grasps
just can't get myself free.
Predictable in every way
through my recalled memory.
I've tasted its bitter skin
but often returning for another lick.
Never realising, still innocent of its hostile flavour,
purposely enticing me to each and every sample.
Even though I've realise and revealed its disguise,
still I'm easily fooled and mesmerise.
