Fake Smiles Poem by Rebeckah Schroeder

Fake Smiles

Rating: 5.0

They cover,
they hide it,
they lie,
Fake smiles...

They cover your pain,
they hide you secrets,
they lie to the whole world,
Fake smiles make up my life.

No one suspects if your having a bad day,
as long as you have a fake smile on your face.

No one notices,
no one cares,
no one seems to know,
if your smile is fake or real.

But who's to say that the smile on your face is fake or real.
you are the only one that knows for sure.

And as long as you have a smile on your face no one really cares,
but once you take that smile off,
someone somewhere will start to notice.

So next time you see me and if you can see past my smile,
it might help if you stop and talk for a while.
Try to find the pain Im hiding,
try to find the secrets I hold,
try and find what lies beneath my very soul
cause the little time we talk,
may make a difference throughout my day
it may even make the pain go away.
