Mom and Dad Great Egret do take
Their last young remaining at home
For some fishing down at the lake,
Before this young takes on life's roam.
In this night there's quiet and calm.
The young egret is aware that
It's time to leave both Dad and Mom
And find a new nest habitat.
The white plumage of the birds' shine
Under the moonlight from the sky.
The three wait patiently to dine,
As some curious fish swim by.
With Mom and Dad in this last night,
Before taking a farewell flight.
