Family Memories Poem by Marilyn Lott

Family Memories

Rating: 3.5

Worn and a little weary
He sat on his narrow bed
It was so very long ago now
Many things were never said

He had a full and long life
A family he had raised
Hard work was all he knew
Not realizing the trail he’d blazed

As I look at old memories
From right out of photo books
Grandpa stood out, you know
With his casual but meaningful looks

Several generations after him
Were in the pages as well
A cotton patch and cattle
So many stories he could tell

But Grandpa stands out so much
So many things there is to remember
One thing I learned from him was
To be warm and good and tender

But now the years have past
Sometimes it so sad for me
But I still have a great lifetime
Of wonderful family memories!

The picture nicely drawn in words. Thoughts natural and deep.
