Far-Away Best Friends Poem by michael spangenberg

Far-Away Best Friends

How often they've seen each other?
As a matter of act, just once (at UBS)
Upon departure from a Swiss bank rendez-vous.

Supposedly wealthy Vancouver-Club members
The only thing they really seem to have in common's
A passionate dislike of politically over-correct Canadian people.

Un-countable the un-forgettable hours they spent together
In close dialogue, letting their hair down, laughing their
Lungs out, crying the heart out - breathing pure emotions.

There were also plenty of long-distance-call occasions
That they prayed together for a better world, a world with
more peace, more economic equality, and less animal cruelty.

Erin's mum just passed away, her son Matthew aside
Mother was her most beloved soul - kind and humble
Always caring, yet brave and fierce like a warrior.

He was enmeshed in some nasty divorce, desperately
Fighting uphill battles over joint or sole custody (for Her)
Erin lost her mummy and he lost EmilyJane, his baby-girl.

The few number of times they met in person (N=1)
Proved to become in-verse to the depth of their friendship
Over the rewarding years, their journey's a long time coming.

He's preparing dinner for Erin now, fish & vegetables spiced
Up with red hot Chili pepper, she's planning to visit him after buying
Inexpensive real estate in London, Brexit golden opportunity.

He urged his close friend to sure bring a ferocious appetite
Since he doesn't like to waste precious food, particularly not on
Fine, silver-sterling ladies, she said: 'That's so sweet.'

Footnote - Tribute to EAV, and the true story of a remarkable
sustainable friendship, a poem of love & friendship.
