Far north of here my life's journey began
And far north of here i grew into a man
And far north of here my parents remains lay
Twelve thousand miles or even more away.
Far north of here i went to primary school
Where i often sat on the dunce's stool
Each hour seemed like a month each day a year
That i spent in the class room north of here.
Far north of here my love for Nature grew
And each day from Nature i learnt something new
And in retrospect i only can recall
That Mother Nature is the best teacher of all.
Far north of here i spent my youth and prime
And in my late twenties i discovered rhyme
And locally mine was a well known face
Far north of here back in my old home place.
The male snipe in his courtship flight display
Above the bog at twilight of the day
And i fancy i can scent the blooms of May
Far north of here and many miles away.
