Farewell Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

Farewell

I am here to bid you farewell
no, never a moment to tell
my friends, my fellow countrymen
a sad day to leave, even then
I have no choice but to go
as I gladly look forward for tomorrow
of those eight years memory will abide
with footsteps of those at our side
and when I open my new doors
after all the White House tours
as a friend from yesterday
I'll take note of the role you play.
