Farewell To Love. Poem by Charles M Moore

Farewell To Love.

Rating: 5.0

We parted and farewell to love
for it was such we could not be
the kiss that brought our hearts entwined
now kisses and begs us to leave
no longer shall we walk the hills
and watch as Mayflys spread their wings
or listen to the lilting song
of birds that wish a mate for spring

The waters of the nearby brook
sound hollow as they pass the fall
and summer flowers seem to lack
the fragrant scent that conquered all
we have no future here as one
and future'less we have apart
we had our time, now it is done
the kiss goodbye and change of heart.

So hard to say good-bye to love. But worse to hang on to a dream. Charlie - as I have said many times before - I just love your easy, flowing style of writing. It is clear and concise, and beautifully elegant. Love your work! Linda :)
