Father Poem by Lachaunte Evans

Father

aLL I want is a strong figure
To tuck me in at night
Come to my rescue when times get hard
And tell me everything will be alright
Help me make it through this race
To the end and back again
And if I had that strong figure
I know I'd always win
Time again and again I pray
That I'll see that figure again someday
Someday before the day I'm taken away
I pray
that when I get the guts to visit or call
Your heart will take over all
And you'll welcome me with open arms
But until that day I'll pray
Hope and pray that when you come you stay
And let nothing and no one get in your way
Tell me that everything will be okay
But until that day I'll wait
Wait for the day that I see you again
Between now and then
I know I'll meet many men
But I'll wait
And throughout my life I may search to find someone
To be that masculine figure
But No one can compare to a fathers figure
