Fathers

Fathers are the rocks upon which mothers build their homes.
My father passed on more that forty years ago
We are never alone in our homes
We his children grown as we have i know.

When he was alive he laid down the law
What is acceptable and what was not
We often thought he was heavy handed i know
But, now i see that his methods though cold were hot.

I have gone through difficult times of late
The foundations of my family being shaken
Like my father before me i stood my ground
I made hard decisions, and took the hard path not taken

My mother who is still living tells me it was my father
The rock foundation that he laid for me
That makes me rock solid and resolute, rather
Than taking the easy path which may seem free.

My father did his part and departed
No doubt i am doing mine along his ethos
Because he showed me how to run my department
And as long as we give a father his place in the home this will continue for aeons.

Give daddy his place at home.
Fathers are the rocks upon which mothers build their homes.
