Fears And Tears For Jacob Blake Poem by John Sensele

Fears And Tears For Jacob Blake

Seven shots in the back
Eleven noughts in the muck
As three innocent children in horror
Watch dad succumbing to police terror.

Puerile eyes perceive ghastly sight
Perennial lies lace liberty and its fight
As shoot first principle delivers another blow
While deliberate change to flaw policy runs slow.

Minds boggle
Hearts struggle
To understand why shooting first applies
In a context where commander in chief lies.

Take a knee for James Blake
Ache when blood flows in a lake
That paralyzes dad's waist and below
When mockery and chicanery insults the law.

Dignify all lives
Accord dignity to wives
Inquiring before shooting
Disarming in cases of looting.

National horror don't stir
In judicious judgment don't err
Magnifying use of force
To climb down a haughty horse.

Responding to a domestic dispute
Won't metamorphose in a fatal shoot
That aggravates circumstances
Stoking dire ire in detrimental instances.
