Feel Alive Poem by Laquory Jones

I'm only 28 about to turn 29
And I haven't done everything
That I want to do in life
Lately it feels as if I'm
Running out of time
I have a lot on my mind
Like one friend whom
Recently tried to commit
Suicide another friend is in the
Fight of her life and she's not
Even 35 telling me two cancers
Have now intertwined
I don't know if this pain will
Ever subside I feel as if my
World has been split in two

I just want you to feel alive
Look into my eyes
Tell me that you will survive
Pain's behind every tear that
I cry it's getting harder to
Stay stronger inside
But I'll have to try
I just never thought that
We'll have to say goodbye
No one deserves to die
Please feel my candle light
For you It will forever shine
You'll never be left behind

There's some nights when I just want
To hide the world has been far from kind
Asking myself
Why the stars never aligned
Perhaps it's all just a sign
There's nights when I just want to cry
I've lost too many friends already
Everything is crashing in heavy
I just want people to understand me
Why do I feel so lonely
I've never been more hungry
While getting lost in this poetry
Trying to find my inner artistry
There'll be no discarding these
Passion dripping through these
Gems that I'm penning because
I just want you to feel alive
