Ferocious Christmas Poem by Emmanuel Dika

Ferocious Christmas

Here's a season I should rejoice but am sad
Excitement it was but now its chaos
A heart wants to celebrate but war gives no chance
My ear twitched to hear the guitar sound
A drone across deafened with its bomb
Beautiful voices lost
Singing bullets came along
We can't sit to listen
On the run it chased
My nose sniffed to perceive the roast
But the rot of cadaver it can't bear
Trauma claws the mind
That had known joy in this season
Brothers turned ferocious
Death marauds
No better wish zealots desire
But blood-letting of kinsmen
If I could wish a valiant
To pacify the beast
But the heart of men_desperately wicked
We still hope?
Yet I believe
Our saviour would come
But till then_
