Few To Assume Poem by Keel Lincoln

Few To Assume

There are few to assume,
That I could be understood,
Few to assume,
I am the start of all things,
Few to assume,
That I will change the world,
Yet it is what I shall do,
For all of you,
I will go face to face with a tree,
In hopes that your eyes may be open and you’ll see,
That I truly love all of thee,
Gushing scarlet blood from my hands,
Rusting nails of workshop brands,
Meld me to this tree, stubbing into my back,
All the people jest, jeer, at my circumstance,
Mocking me for all I lack,
Nothing and nobody would ever give me slack,
The flogged skin around me is torn,
On my head the aching crown is made of thorns,
This is why I was born,
Right now I am your sin,
My lifeline running thin,
Your sin goes with me,
I hope you can see,
I’m dying for your sake,
There is no other way for your sin to take,
I’m trying to make you as though a snow flake,
So I hope you will assume,
That I’ve died for you,
That I have risen for you,
And in my Father’s house there is much room,
So come sinner,
Let me save you please,
Your sins I’ll appease,
As one of those dead on trees,
I’m one of the threes,
As a means to feed,
Your desperate need,
I let my body bleed,
Trust me,
This is my expertise,
I love thee,
And this is how much,
In a forgiving touch,
You are resurrected,
As I am today,
And we can be connected,
But it’s up to what you say,
The choice is yours,
To open this door.
