Fiends Of The Dark Poem by Brooke Barker

Fiends Of The Dark

Rating: 0.5

Shadows call out,
They are humming their pain,
Singing out their grief,
Only begging for relief,
From their long suffering drought.

Their cries draw you in,
You can't help but be mundane,
So, You take their bait,
This seals your fate,
You've given the ghouls a grin.

A mind that only knew charity,
Was too easily slain,
By the demons who murmured lies,
And created a guise,
That brought you to a place of insularity.

You just want to help the lost,
But It's your soul they drain,
They'll take you for all you own,
Until all that's left is bone,
How much will your kindness cost?

The shadows now live within you,
You are no longer sane,
Sympathy was your demise,
For in this dark world it was unwise,
But it was all you could construe.
