Fight Poem by Mike Otero

Fight

“Fight”
I fight the dread
I fight my feelings
I fight my urge to scream out
My one pain like a laceration through my heart, through my soul
My one life
I fight my fight
A hard spirit
One of a kind
No other than yourself
Stay alive become yourself
It’s not time to let go
Throughout the day and night you will survive
Face the terror be alone
A deep sleep a deep nightmare
The night terrors
You push me to the edge I fall
He of evil
I take care of him
My dad cannot take care of me
Left alone and hurt
The same forever
I am the same guy I’ve been
My one pain
My own feeling
My fears
For what you care
Leave…me…alone
I’m anger to be sorrow
Crushing my dream that becomes alive
Striking the pain with lightning
Anger of the gods
Hungry for forgiveness
I fight the cry
Rain starts falling from my eyes
It kills throughout my nerve and veins
My heart is deep in pain
I cannot fight the feeling that I have inside
Mend my wound
I fight the dread
I fight my feeling
I fight my urge
“Fight.”
