Fill Your Cup Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Fill Your Cup

Letting go of sorrow
Saving what I should
Living life with a tomorrow
My past is haunted
I must face life undaunted

I cling to too many memories
Some rules are necessary
Some are just games
Like rhyming everything
Even meter can be crazy

Nature is essential
Pollack said, “I am nature”
Beasts and birds
Lizards and cats
All is there like a fountain

Jungles
Farms
Rivers and streams
Hear the sea and crickets
See the stars over lakes

Purple dusk
Maroon sumac
Sweet bluebells
Mountains that whisper
Yellow daffodils of Wordsworth

Go camping
Walks in soft fields
Vivaldi and Bach
Rain and thunder
Choice is a factor

Nature is a healer
Moonlight is soul food
Music of the songbirds
My cat by the window
Fill your cup with dawn
