Finesse Poem by Harry St Vincent Beechey

Finesse

I decided, not to rape this virgin page

With crass obscenities,

(So much, Alas, in vogue)

But merely to seduce it a little.

To explore its erogenous zones

Hopefully -

Gently titillating -

With a ballpoint pen.

And the thought struck me

That ancient poets always used a quill.

A far more suitable instrument

For touching up a tired poem

Or tickling the fancy

Of a wayward muse!

H. St.V. Beechey November 1971.
