First Kiss Poem by Ryan David Ginsberg

First Kiss

Rating: 5.0

We pull up to your house, it's the end of the night
Wish it didn't have to end for it couldn't have gone more right
Each moment I just wanted to keep forever
But it was getting late on that night in September
So I get out and open up your door
I look at you and know I could never want anything more
You are all that I will ever need
If you were a book I would continuously reread
I look into your eyes and you give me a little smile
I smile back and know you will always be worthwhile
I reach down for your hand and our fingers intertwine
If I were to die right then, I would have been perfectly fine
We walk slowly up your driveway
Not moving fast, but our hands begin to sway
We don't speak a word, I guess I'm too lost in your beauty
Have so many lines in my head, but I fear they're all too fruity
We reach your front door and I know the night is done
But I don't want it to end quite yet so I say a little pun
You do your little giggle that I have always found so cute
Leaving me speechless, so I just sit there mute
You grab your keys and give them a little jingle
And to the same beat my heart does a little tingle
So I lean in, nervous I'm going to miss
And you lean in too for our very first kiss
I swear the angels rejoiced when our lips touched
Throughout my whole body my blood rushed
We sat there for another hour, just talking
Our hands still together slowly rocking
Wishing I never had to go
Just wishing time would slow
But eventually we had to part
I knew from that night on you'd always have my heart
You walked into your house, I walked back to my car
Just laid on the hood staring up at the stars
Taking it all in and I still haven't forgotten a detail
I could recite it from beginning to end without fail
From what you were wearing, what we did, to our amazing kiss
Just sitting on my car, in a perfect bliss
Sitting there with a smile that would not leave
And for the first time love was something I believed
