First One For A New Muse (I Think)

So close yet so far away
You are here with me
In the very same room
I ran my fingers through your hair
And hugged you Good Night
Yet you are still just beyond
My grasp
My reach
My touch

I shall sleep in my empty bed
With your scent upon my fingertips
As if you were close and actually here
And in this moment I am...happy?

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
