First Place Poem by Marilyn Lott

First Place

Rating: 0.5

Everyone wants to be a winner
The first place ribbon is the best
Folks work so hard and often
Are put through a grueling test

But it happens every single year
And it’s all in fun, you know
As they watch their vegetables
Displayed for the garden show

And fruit as well, like melon
Beautiful with a glowing color
Standing out in size and shape
Perfectly grown like no other

Ah, the fairs are so much fun
I love to visit them each time
As food smells fill the air
And I’m waiting patiently in line

The animals waiting in their stalls
Enjoy the folks as they pass through
And wait for the time to come
So they can show off for me and you

The fair will soon be back in town
At the same time and same space
Once again we can enjoy the winners
With their ribbons for first place!
