Never really enjoyed reading poems
except the ones which rhymed.
Most of the poems I read were vague
meanings of which were never implied.
I aped my teachers tuitions
only for a score in my test.
Both of my parents loved poems
and were great enthusiasts of poetry.
Until after a few years I learnt
my mother was a wonderful poet.
I could understand her lines
they were life like to me.
I read her lovely lines
For the first time, lines were lucid on the whole.
Reading her poems I realised
not all poems were ambiguous.
Again years rolled
she appeared as the best poet among those i read.
I read and understood them
with her help of course.
But I could never develop interest
in writing any myself.
I loved to talk to myself
but never intended to pen them.
One day my mother asked
why don’t you try writing?
I show no inclination
though i would have loved a shot.
After all I am her daughter
May be I have some of her talents.
But then topic becomes difficult
many thoughts run through my brain.
Days pass I get busy with studies
but the urge to try remains.
At last, this day, this is what it results in
this one is for you Amma.
Hope it’s not that bad
It’s just my beginning.
Right now I have no clue
if ever I will write another.
But there is no reason why I won’t
But now I stop.
I have my records to finish
and to study for my tests.

nice poem Havya. you are blessed to have such a gifted poet as your mom. i can see both of you share a unique bond of love, respect and frienndship. i see many more poems take shape from your heart and mind, for you write with honesty. love Mamta
a poem dot from HP Dot to begin with...very sequential in its presentation...an attribute a poet must have...nicely narrative...congrats Havya...10
_______________''Right now I have no clue____________________ _______________if ever I will write another''____________________ _____________________DOT HP____________________________ Hey Dot...do yourself a favour...have a clue, and write 'til your heart tells you to put your pen down...This is a fine ''first attempt'' at the Literary Arts, as well as placing a demonstrative stamp on the old cliche''Like Mother, Like Daughter''. Your choice to employ a couplet stanzaic structure works well here. Your mom is a fine scribe of the Written Word, and this innaugural sample of your own poetry tells me that literary talent roots deep in your family...A fine tributive, indeed, young missy, and i am quite confident that you have made your Mom proud! Fine expressions........sequence and communications are really good and you are going to be the one...........
Havya, you can be proud of yourself and the inspiration you have taken from Vidi. May this love of poetry be passed on and I am sure you will write many more poems. May you and your poetic endeavours be blessed.
Well begining and a good introduction, Welcome to the world of poetry and go ahead and around, write whatever it may be impressed, inspired and disappointed, write for the beautiful winter valley and the grey sky, write the autumn colours and spring rains, and also don`t forget Our Own Tradition and Nature, and write for the victim children and moms, Happy students day wishes,10+++
Congratulations to Havya...and as for inspiration look around and you will find your mother, your archangel...and am sure ink flow out of your creative quill to create another gem of a poem!
Well Havya, that was a good start....I am sure that you will write more and improve with each poem that you pen....You are lucky as you can always learn a lot from your talented Mom as well. I wish you all the very best as you dive into the sea of poetry...
Well Dot, that piece is inspirational to read, and I hope you will improve by the day. I wish you all the best in your endeavours.
