Flat On My Face Poem by Brooke Peterson

Flat On My Face

Rating: 5.0

Tried to avoid the path you laid,
Tried to avoid the price you paid.
Tried to rise up, go above-
Tried to learn from those whom I love.

Now here I lie, flat on my face,
all my persistence put me right into place.
All the judging led to ridicule.
Now I know to follow The Rule.

I'm sorry for everything that I said.
I'm sorry for guessing whats in your head.
Because I know just how you feel,
because I see- all the appeal.

Temporary fix-seems to provide
Short term love-seems to abide.
Super glue wears, after a while.
Twine-string can only hold a small pile.

So now I'm falling through the dark place.
So much for thinking there was enough space.
I know exactly where I stand,
-never deserved, such a man.
