Flip - Flop Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Flip - Flop

Laid down for a nap before it was dark
Woke to the rays of an illuminating sunrise…
stealing a few more winks before getting up
Soon sensing a restlessness in my mind's eye

Barely conscious… the sky is slowly dimming
a defused dawn seems to be going in reverse
Instead of a lifting haze with evaporating dew
Blind confusion floods like a debilitating curse

Could this be a final ending that obliterates...
Is this a time for prophecies to be satisfied…
A calming realization gradually transcends
Fear of worldly demise was wildly magnified

It isn't the start of the day… it's early evening
My weariness was relieved by a short snooze
No need to explore the possibilities of gloom
Now I can erase speculations that confuse
