Floating Poem by Paulo Lucas

Floating

Teach me River how to float
For I feel sinking in your depth
Running waters wash my fears
While I dive between your shores
Drifting low with the tide
I try to breathe within the rush
Of finding an island to rest my soul

Teach me River how to float
For long is the journey to endure
Carry me swift in your bed
And plow through mountains in a quest
To find the way into the sea
Be it the ocean or a pond
My pool of dreams to be found

Teach me River how to float
Forgot the bridge or how to cross
The flood has come to shred my smile
And though i want to keep my breath
I look at bends in your course
Hoping to find a smiling wave
Or heavenly shores to get some sleep

So please River, teach me how to float!
