So many are suffering, so many have died,
So much of damage, so many have cried,
The airport is flooded, cars cannot move,
Because of bad attempts modernize and improve,
Bad planning has killed our own blood,
Greed for development has led to the Chennai flood,
infrastructures built over natural drainage systems,
Avoidable mistakes that could have saved ecosystems,
Blaming the heavy rainfall is just a poor excuse,
When the true problem is bad development and power abuse,
Profit should not be the priority of Bureaucrats and politicians,
When their decisions so strongly affect the living conditions,
Now look at the damage that their carelessness has brought,
Leaving millions suffering in fear and distraught
I hope this event will open their eyes so they will learn,
To not make earning profits their ultimate concern,
My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones,
To all the now grieving fathers, mothers, daughters and sons,
I hope the government acknowledges their loss and pain,
And takes the right steps to prevent this from happening again.
There is no denying that much of the blame lies with our policy makers and those who workout civic projects and those who implement them. You have called a spade a spade: Blaming the heavy rainfall is just a poor excuse, When the true problem is bad development and power abuse,

I would like to translate this poem
My heart goes out for the plight of Chennai residents who were victims of the short sight and greediness of handful of tycoons and power mongers who had made lakhs of people suffer and hundreds succumb due to devastation by floods caused by wrong planning n mismanagement. Thanks for sharing.
