Flutter By

Full many a year
flitted I through my wordbook
without alighting on 'fleer' -
to wry your face in contempt.

I'm practising a fleer right now.
You are probably too.
Think: looking at you,
a tiger in a zoo.

Flit a little higher.
On 'fleech' alight -
to flatter, coax, beg
(brown-nose, I suppose) .

Flutter down to 'fleme' -
to put to flight.
'Fledgy' for 'feathery', Keats said (sayed?)
When whalers flenched they flayed.
