Footprints Poem by Eric Paeplow

Footprints

The shoreline awash
With memories of summers past
The footprints left behind
But momentary markers
To the memories of our lives
Here at this moment
Then slowly dissolving
In the liquid embers of our minds
Returning at last
From whence they came
From saffron sunsets past
As they crested the horizon
To fade at last from sight
To the morning sunrise
As new footprints arrive
To complete the cycle
Leaving momentary markers
To the memories of our lives
