For Me Poem by Craig Rogers

For Me

As stars were flung across the universe
As galaxies were set in space
YOU had already determined the cost of the curse
You had chosen to take my place

As dark was the sky of Bethlehem’s night
YOU stood from the Throne with dazzling Light
Whispered goodbyes as YOU set off in flight
With angels in awe of this surreal sight

For YOU were the glue that held it together
The KING that kept heaven from danger
How could eternity begin to weather
The LION become LAMB and laid in a manger

Who could deserve so great a cost?
What universe, what galaxy demanded this price! !
What is this earth and these humans called lost?
Are these the ones that would deny you thrice
The ones that would cry” Crucify Christ”

Why not a noble majestic deed
Like Satan flung from Heaven’s heights
Why of all things Mary’s Seed
Why rejection, denial, and sleepless nights

What is this place called Calvary’ Hill
To die like a thief hung from a tree
Heaven was silent the angel’s stood still
As I answered their questions, It was FOR ME
