For Papa Poem by David Harris

For Papa

The hardest thing to say
is a forever goodbye
to those who are close
and akin to you.

There is a space within us
that is now vacant and bare
now that you no longer
reside in there.

Each morning is empty
though your presence
is around us
urging us to carry on.

The smile on everyone's face
reminds us of yours.
Though you are gone,
you are never far away.

We will remember
all the times we had
and how you brightened up
our days with laughter.

Papa you have entered that big sleep,
and into heaven you went
to our lord, and in his care
may your soul in peace keep.
