Yesterday it was spring,
Today I find winter
Has swept across the land, and tonight
I see your face, lean and hard
Come to me in sadness
Come to me in fear
Come to me in anger,
I have seen this pain before
And the arms that hold you in full embrace
Are the ones that hold you dear
Not for something carnal,
Only rest your body now
Rest your soul, rest your heart
...And rest your sorrows here
No judgment falls, no aching bones,
No work that must be done
I’ll strike a match against the strip
Set candles upon the wall
Raise a glass up to your lips
If only for a moment,
Be unburdened and unafraid
Let your stories take you down
Whichever path they choose
But, know that where they find you,
I will find you too.
