For Some Of Us Poem by Francis Duggan

For Some Of Us

For some of us there may not be tomorrow
That's how it is and it will always be this way
It is true we only can live in the moment
I'm quoting here what wiser counsel say.

For millions of people living is such a battle
Through life they struggle on from day to day
They seem to age quite quickly in their twenties
And before their time they do look old and gray.

The gap between the haves and have nots widening
So many born in the pit of despair
And yet you will meet people who will tell you
That everything in life is always fair.

An egalatarian human society will not be in my lifetime
The World refugee camps are full of refugees
In Lands ravaged by wars and droughts poverty is widespread
And people slowly dying of hunger and disease.

For some of us there will not be a tomorrow
But about that you will not hear me complain
For compared to many i feel very lucky
Since i have never known such a thing as hunger pain.
