For Standing Rock Poem by Jacquelyn Burge

For Standing Rock

Rating: 5.0

There is no peace,
Where bulls run free in herds of life.
There is no peace,
where the sun blazes over hundreds of miles of seemingly empty land, cracked by a dragon beast of water.
There is no peace,
where horses are shot for their assistance to the land.
There is no peace,
where children of the land gather and scatter like ants.
Foreign giants try and try to drown the ants in waters poison,
yet like ants, the children of the land build on those of the past,
making a life boat for the future,
There is no peace, where humans are ignorant to the fact that they are also animals,
connected to everything that was, is and will ever be.
There is no peace,
where murder is governed,
disrespect is American,
where love is abundant, but silenced.
There is no peace there,
but there is life, there is hope,
there is unity, there is love,
and soon peace will follow.
