For You Dad Poem by stephanie spencer

For You Dad

For You Dad

No words that I have written
will ever seem enough,
About a man we all knew
a man that was tough,
A man that was stubborn but
still had a heart of steel,
His loss to us all and
a void that will never heal.

He was a very proud man which never
admitted if he was ever wrong,
A man who fought right up to the
end and tried to stay strong,
One that enjoyed the simple things
in life like a smoke and a drink,
A man which sadly death snatched
from us as sudden as a blink.

You see this guy was special
to me he was my dad,
So you can understand why writing
this makes me more sad,
The words I've been writing him
have been going on and on,
But I regret none of which I
wrote till after he was gone.

I stand here on this day trying
my hardest not to cry,
Because we all gather here to say
our peace and say goodbye,
I wish my dad could be here right
now and was able to stay,
If only for this so he could hear all
the kind words people have to say.

I want to thank you all it means
a lot that you all came,
But I'm sure you will agree life
without will never be the same,
Now wipe them tears he wouldn't
want anyone to cry,
Lets celebrate his life instead
well lets at least go try
