For You I Groan Zimbabwe Poem by Martin Ayanbare Ayankola

For You I Groan Zimbabwe

For you I groan Zimbabwe
For you I keep awake keeping this vigil
For you I groan Zimbabwe
I love you Zimbabwe

For you I cry Zimbabwe
How can hunger rule in the land of the wise?
How can fear rule in the land of the brave?

For you I cry Zimbabwe.
Thousands of your children escaping from your bosom,
Fleeing in fear
How can fear rule in the land of the brave?

For peace I plead in Zimbabwe
Brothers tearing at each other
How can we build a peaceful continent
When we cannot come together as one.

To Papa Mugabe and Morgan I cry
Let egos be pocketed,
Let rationality rule in the land of the wise
Let reason prevail and madness take flight
Let peace reign across the Zambesi and the Limpopo

For you I cry Zimbabwe,
How can hunger rule in a fertile land?
How can pains and cries be prevalent in the land of the valiant?

So sad my friend. The situation in Zimbabwe is really unbearable. I'm so sorry that your continent has found so much hardship. If only rationale people could enter the political scene, and perhaps with foreign aid, restore infrastructure and education, then peace would surely follow. Excellent write, heartfelt, passionate 10/10.

so does mine...maybe we could blame it to chemistry....there are things that really dont blend....our very own leaders..they themselves gave us all the hardships...how many barrels of tears do we need to squeeze to flush this rule of greed......
