Is it forbidden to care
Is it forbidden to love
Is it forbidden to ask
Why I can’t wish for more
I reach out for you
As you reach out for me
I bend over to kiss you
As you bend over to kiss me
So why can I never reach you
Why can I never touch you
Never feel your warmth
And never to taste your sweet lips
I see your smile
I smell your locks
I feel your sorrow
I share your pain
You give me a moment’s happiness
And a lifetime of sorrow
But I, smitten as I am,
Can never bring myself to not love you
So sometimes I wonder
Oh, fair mirror
If you were created
To destroy this innocent heart in me
