Foregoing Virtue, Opting For Sin Poem by gershon hepner

Everything good is easier to lose than win,
like money and a loving mate,
while everything bad is easier to win than lose––
consider enemies and weight––
explaining why, when we are forced to choose,
we forego virtue and opt instead for sin.

Inspired by Marc Porter-Zasada’s rhyming response to my poem “Sweet, Not Sticky”. I have had modified his verse, pasted below:

Everything good is easier to lose than win.
(Consider money and love.)
While everything bad is easier to win than lose.
(I’d mention pounds and enemies.)
Which explains why, when we’re forced to choose,
We often forego virtue and opt for sin.
