Forget Me Naught

Rating: 5.0

their backs pressed down on scorpion grass.
resplendent hues of violet blues, its flowers so reflected in the low suns porcelain mask.
this quiet calm, he broke abrupt and snapped the deer bone pendant from his neck,
and as he placed it in her palm.
'so as to not forget'..
she felt the tremble in his voice as it crept along the ground and down behind her spine to end up twisting in her chest
glancing to her hand and this lovely chunk of bone, its whiteness beiged and edges smoothed by passing times caress.
her fingers did as time and worked its worn lines
'forget what? ' she asked
' this here, this day, this sky that we have shared..us.. me'
though she didnt care for sombered tone, she indulged him still
'how would i forget you, do you think id let you leave?
'well no' he said
' while i don't intend to ever leave, lest you may wish it so, fate cares not of mans intent, from blinded left it deals its blows, and to think that that, the thought of you forgetting me, could be among the last of these my worldly thoughts, that in and of itself would be enough kill me. and then to slip away? to die twice with in that same last breath,
and then, once gone, if you forgot me?
to be as though to not have been at all?
well that would be the deadest death there is, beyond a death in fact as death can only come to those who've lived..
'stop it! ' she exclaimed 'why must you go so dark! ? i refuse to play this morbid game, i refuse to pay your madness any mind, i will not feed that ravens shade.. if you love me as you claim, then you will stay right here beside me. as long as im alive you don't get to die,
i will not allow it.
no. if you love me, you would stop this nonsense, shut up now and kiss me'
and as she was not a one who he could willingly deny he leaned to serve and just as he would press his lips on hers she turned her cheek to nestle in his shoulder, and whispered with a smile
'liar'
she would never clench that deer bone pendant any tighter
